TYPES OF MOTIVATION

Extrinsic motivation refers to behaviour that is driven by external rewards such as money, fame, grades, and praise. This type of motivation arises from outside the individual, as opposed to intrinsic motivation, which originates inside of the individual.

Intrinsic motivation is defined as performing an action or behaviour because you enjoy the activity itself. Whereas acting on extrinsic motivation is done for the sake of some external outcome, the inspiration for acting on intrinsic motivation can be found in the action itself.
Goal setting is a great way to stay motivated and focused when exercising. Sometimes it is difficult to get out of bed on a cold morning or get to the gym after a long day’s work but it is important that at these times, we remember why we do what we do!

I personally like to set achievable short term goals with a bigger goal in mind. Have a go at setting some goals using the SMART formula, bring this sheet to training and let’s work together at achieving your health and fitness goals!
